"Vancouver's Games Will Be the Gayest Olympics Ever" (Quoted Title)

The opening of "Pride Houses" and amount of gay athletes inspired the observation that this will be the gayest Olympics to date held in Vancouver.

One might wonder the significance of this information; sexuality is not as big of a conflict as it has been in the past. However, countries that participate in the Olympics embody cultures in which being homosexual is not just "unacceptable but criminal".

This welcoming of gay pride can maybe spark a rise of freedom in other countries. Bringing quality back into some people's lives.

Vancouver's history of gay activists and gay pride events makes it the perfect city for this "outing" to take place.

  1. One can only hope. I have had many friends over the years with same sex preferences, and there have been times where I've had to help them defend their lifestyle against those who don't, can't, or won't understand them. Hopefully, if addressed in major media outlets properly, this will serve to open the hearts of those who refuse to accept homosexuals as human beings worthy of equal treatment as heterosexuals. Unfortunately, it will likely take a lot more to get other governments to stop persecuting their gay citizens. Perhaps, however, this will be merely the first step in many in initiating these changes.

  2. "One can only hope."

In my honest opinion, we should stop bothering with all these gay pride parades and things of the nature. It isn't going to work.

What can be done for the sake of a peaceful world?

Nothing. I believe that eventually, open mindedness will spread through our children and children's children.

  3. Homosexual people, straight people, transgender people, black people, white people... key word anyone?

    PEOPLE!!!!!

we are all PEOPLE and we need to remember that.

Anyone who qualifies can compete in the Olympics and it is as simple as that.

  4. I dont want to come off so negative but I must state my belief. I dont agree with any gay activity. Race, gender, look, etc is not a problem. I do not disrespect anyone and even with gays I will treat them as I do others. Just my opinion

  5. I have nothing against homosexual people. I accept it 100% but I do agree with the statement that the countries participating in the olympics see homosexuality as criminal. This could possibly spark chaos.

  6. This is actually quite shocking to me because I didn't know homosexuality would ever be so openly accepted.

There are so many diverse preferences out there that something as big as the Olympics accepting homosexual people is great, in my opinion.

  7. Rather I agree or disagree with homosexuality is irrelevant. The fact that the Olympic games was reported this way was either way out of line or right on point. Reporters are finding more and more creative ways to report news we hear about all the time and that to me is amazing.

  8. I think if your good enough to compete than you should be able too. There will always be people that are going to be offended about things. They should just think of it as a celebration of the olympics not the sexual orientation of their competitor.
